4 Months since arrival

The family (Mum, Dad, two boys and a girl) have settled into their new home in Flixton. The two boys are in school full time and the little girl has now settled into part time nursery.  Mum and Dad are learning English at Trafford College and group members go to the house to help them with learning English on most evenings. Neighbours are very friendly to the family.  Dad uses the local buses readily to go shopping etc., and travels to and from college independently. He has also been doing some volunteering work in Manchester; showing his skills as a chef. Mum is using public transport to go to/from college and is making good progress with her English. The boys have developed split allegiances; one for City and the other for United - a bit of indoctrination going on somewhere methinks!

Thanks to everyone for their generosity and continued support.

REFUGEE CRISIS APPEAL FROM POPE FRANCIS

Pope Francis called for every European Parish and Religious community to take in one refugee family each, in a gesture of solidarity.

Our Parish Forum set up a Special Refugee Crisis Group and raised funds for a Refugee Crisis Fund, this fund will support a refugee family within our community,to contribute to supporting the daily needs of the refugees, and to support aid agencies in dealing with the refugee crisis.

“We have no choice, no option. We must cross, we will cross. The alternative for us is death. Even if there was a government decision to drown the migrant boats, there will still be people going because the individual considers himself dead already ” (Abu Jana – Syrian refugee)

It has really begun...!

We have provided a home for a Syrian Refugee Family.

Our extensive plan was submitted to the Home Office who approved our application, along with the Greater Manchester Councils and Trafford Council. The family are receiving support from a team of volunteers.
